Libraries & Reusing Books
“The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
- Dr. Seuss
Our Little Gems organise to visit some local libraries -- Little Gems Nicosia pay a visit to the children’s library at Pascal Primary School; Little Gems Larnaca pay a visit to the local municipal library of Aradippou.
The aims of the visit are:
- to introduce the children to a variety of published resources about Cyprus and how we can utilise available materials through research in order to support our Island further with our Eco-school program.
- to explore the variety of children's books or picture books that we may not have in our own library.
- to experience that act of borrowing and returning books rather than buying and giving away.
The children explore the library with some fun exercises and planned activities while practising how to handle and care for books and appreciating their importance as a valuable resource. We also brought some tracing paper with us so that we can trace our favourite images and bring them back to school!
